Federation.oregonstate.edu change

What : Server support will change from ADFS 2.0 to ADFS 3.0 When: Saturday, 6am we will point the existing “Federation.oregonstate.edu” to point to the new federation servers Why: This upgrade allows future upgrades to be seamless, as well as increasing resiliency, redundancy and overall capacity. The change is more backend, although there will be a newer look and feel from the webpage. It allows us to stay current, as future upgrades can be incorporated without the creation of a new, independent ADFS group.

How will the change impact the customer? The site will be down while DNS replicates for 5 minutes; I’ve set the ttl to 5 minutes there may be a few clients that might have to flush DNS as they don’t honor TTL. Overall, there will be a newer website and will add features for mobile device management, and other needed features for campus migration to office 365.

Who will this affect: Mostly Transparent to customers. When will this happen: Tuesday – 11-24-2015 @ 10:00PM – 1:00AM What are we doing: Applying the patches to SQL cluster Why are we doing this: Maintaining current patch levels ensures compatibility, bug fixes, and health and welfare of the service.

OSU will be performing system and database maintenance over Thanksgiving break. Most administrative applications will be unavailable from 12:01AM Thursday November 26, 2015 through 11:59PM Sunday November 29, 2015.

* Affected applications include Online Services (Banner Self-Service), Banner INB, AppWorx, CORE Reporting, BRM, Cleanaddr, Data Warehouse, EvalS, FormFusion, Jaspersoft, MyDegrees (DegreeWorks), myOSU, MyVendor, Multiple Assignments, Nolij, OSCAR, PeopleAdmin, R25/Web Viewer, RAP/SRP, Scholarship Management System.

* Widely-used applications unaffected by this activity, and expected to function normally, include: Canvas, Blackboard, Google apps, email and EmpCenter (MyTime).

* TouchNet will still accept payments but payments will not be posted until the maintenance work is complete

MSSQL service interruption

Good Afternoon,

From 10:00PM Saturday, until 2:32PM Sunday the Microsoft SQL database clusters experienced an outage related to migration to new core.

We believe the problem is now corrected, and that it may not have affected all systems that use the database cluster; however please check any services that utilize the central SQL database clusters and advise us if you are still having difficulties with one of your services.
