Completion of a FERPA Tutorial is required for any access and/or training on any of the OSU student data systems. There are two versions of the training that serve two different purposes:

This tutorial, sponsored by the Registrar's Office at OSU, explains the parameters of the permissible use and release of student records, and can be found on the Employee Quick Links tab on the MyOSU portal (instructions are on the FERPA tutorial page).
This tutorial is required for all Faculty and Staff who wish to access student records using the Student Information System (SIS) Banner, My Degrees, Nolij, and Data Warehouse. It takes about 20 minutes to complete.
At the completion of the tutorial, complete the certificate online.

Workshop (2.5 hours)
This is an optional introductory level workshop for the beginning Student Information System (SIS) Banner user. The presentation includes a review of the SIS Query menu structure, data orientation, and data retrieval using the SOAIDNS, SFAREGQ, SFASLST, SSASECT, and SHATERM Banner forms.
Note: The content of this workshop is a prerequisite for the Data Warehouse SIS course.

This workshop is for the Banner Student Information System (SIS) user who requires access to preformatted administrative reports and/or will develop ad-hoc queries and reports in the SIS Data Warehouse. The presentation includes SIS Data Warehouse confidentiality issues and model orientation, followed by demonstration and practice in using the model. The focus of the hands-on portion will be on exploring and modifying the Administrative reports, and introducing the SIS data through exploratory queries, query techniques, and query refinement for Student system reporting. Data Warehouse Extras is recommended (but not required) for SIS Data Warehouse users who develop complex queries.
