Studios & Rooms

Images of all rooms available for student check-outSMS has two presentation rooms, a photo/video studio, an interview studio, an audio recording studio, and 4 multimedia workstations available for checkout for course- and research-related work.

To request any of these rooms, click on a link below or stop by the SMS desk on the second floor of the Valley Library. Bring your student ID and have a preferred date and time in mind. If you have questions, please call us at 541-737-3332 or email us at SMS.Production@oregonstate.edu.

Studios & Rooms

On the Day of Your Reservation

  • Bring your student ID.
  • Come to the SMS desk to get keys.
  • Refreshments can be served in presentation rooms.
  • Remember to clean up after yourself and your attendees.
  • When you’re done, return the keys to the SMS desk.

Audio Recording Studio

Student Using Audio Recording RoomThe audio recording studio is located on the fourth floor of the Valley Library (4062) and is available Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm (for other hours, depending on availablity, call 541-737-3332).

Includes:

  • Microphone
  • Table/chair

Recording devices with an 1/8" audio input are available through SMS.

There is no charge to use this room for course related work.

Interview Studio

Student in Interview RoomThe interview studio is located on the fourth floor of the Valley Library (4062) and is available Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. For other hours, depending on availablity, call 541-737-3332.

Includes:

  • digital video camera
  • lights
  • two mics
  • table/chairs

Recording media (tapes, etc.) are not supplied.

There is no charge to use this room for course-related work.

Photo & Video Studio

The studio includes:

  • lighting
  • portrait backdrops (white/black/blue/gray cloudy/key chrome green)
  • green screen wall
  • tripod
  • table/stool/chair
  • changing space

Cameras are not supplied.

There is no charge to use this room for course-related work.

Presentation Room 1420

Presentation Room 1420Room 1420 is located on the first floor of the Valley Library.

This room can accommodate up to 15 participants and is typically used for presentations and thesis defenses.

Includes:

  • projector and screen
  • iMac equipped with dual boot (Windows or OSX)
  • personal laptop hookups
  • slide navigator
  • speaker phones
  • white board
  • video conferencing equipment including Skype and Tandburg

Presenters are welcome to bring food and drinks (cookies and punch are typical), but need to clean up after their attendees before leaving.

The room can be reserved for 4 hours at a time, which includes any set up and clean up time you might need.

There is no charge to use this room.

Study Space Registration for Graduate Students

Room 1420

Nighttime Study Space for Graduate Students ONLY
Valley Library Room 1420, 10pm to 7am

Graduate students may register with SMS to gain access to a nighttime study space. This space is reserved exclusively for graduate students. Once a graduate student is approved for access, the student is issued a door access code which provides access to the space for the entire term.

By submitting this webform you are agreeing to the following terms. Failure to abide by these terms may result in loss of the privilege to use study rooms, a referral to the Student Conduct office, or a referral to campus Public Safety.

  1. You understand that you are issued a UNIQUE code, and you agree that you will NOT share your code with anyone else. (This is critical for tracking usage.)
  2. This room is to be a quiet space to study, and furnishings are not to be changed or removed.
  3. The middle door windows must remain uncovered for security reasons.
  4. The technology installed in the room is not to be used during this time period. If technology is needed, please contact SMS during normal business hours for checkout and training.
  5. You must vacate the room by 7:00 am each morning.
  6. All misuse or damage is to be reported immediately to Circulation Desk and email sent to SMS.production@oregonstate.edu.

Willamette West

Willamette West RoomThe Willamette West room, located on the third floor of the Valley Library (3622), can accommodate 20 participants. It is available free of charge for use in thesis defenses. If accommodations for additional participants (up to 50 maximum) are needed, contact SMS for special arrangements.

Includes:

  • projector and screen
  • iMac equipped with dual boot (Windows or OSX)
  • personal laptop hookups
  • slide navigator
  • speaker phones
  • white board
  • TV with a VCR/DVD on a rolling cart

Presenters are welcome to bring food and drinks (cookies and punch are typical) but are responsible for their own clean-up.

The Willamette West room can be reserved up to 4 hour block of time.
