Authorization Codes

An authorization code is required for all long distance calling from OSU extensions. Authorization Codes are seven digits in length. Each authorization code is assigned a Facilities Restriction Level (FRL). The FRL will designate what long distance calls can be made and their routing priority. The FRLs are as follows:

  • Oregon
  • United States, Canada, and misc. locations reached by dialing an area code
  • All locations including international calls.

Get an Authorization Code

Authorization Codes should be kept private and confidential.

 

Long Distance Instructions

Oregon and Out-of-State Dialing:
OSU business calls - dial 9 + 1 + area code + seven digit extension, wait for recall tone (three short beeps) and enter your authorization code.

Collect calls - dial 9 + 0 + area code + seven digit extension, and remain on the line for telephone company instructions.

International Dialing:
OSU business calls - dial 9 + 011 + country code + city code + extension, wait for recall tone and enter your authorization code.

Note: Sometimes it helps to insert the # button after dialing the extension to let the phone system know you are done dialing the international number.

Toll-Free Numbers: Dial 9 + 1 + (800 or 888) + seven digit extension.
