Lois Brooks, Vice Provost for Information Services and CIO, has formed a new Office of Information Security (OIS) for Oregon State University. Office operations begin immediately and build upon existing security policy and practices.

"Information security is increasingly complex," said Brooks. "The bad actors are sophisticated and clever, and the ubiquity of web-based services and growth in the use of mobile devices expands access to sensitive or personal information. We need to increase our effort to remain secure."

Under the leadership of Dave Nevin, OSU's new Chief Information Security Officer, the OIS will work to raise OSU's standards and practices for secure computing. Nevin and his team will coordinate with academic and administrative units to develop policy, benchmark and assess our level of risk, and educate and inform our community on best practices.
