The digital experience team is taking its current offering of Chat with Benny — a chatbot designed to help recently admitted students with the matriculation process — and growing it into Chat @ OSU, a scalable service that provides answers to common questions from across campus. We envision this new conversational interface to access information from a plurality of OSU systems to deliver personalized information, answer common questions, promote student success and provide assistance navigating institutional processes.
We have been making technology and platform decisions with the future of conversational UI at OSU in mind. OSU's Digital Experience team is working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) on an innovative project to develop a chat experience that can be utilized by departments across the university, giving students a consistent, intuitive experience. In partnering with AWS, we are building a foundation that will support a community of practice around Chat @ OSU. This is new territory in the world of higher education, and OSU is paving the way.
Chat @ OSU will be built with quality, accuracy and depth of knowledge by working closely with experts in admissions, housing and dining, financial aid, new student programs and more.
