Student Computing Facilities

Virtual computing for the OSU community

Oregon State University's Virtual Application Server can be accessed at apps.oregonstate.edu.

Where Do I Store My Files?

Do not store your data on the computer itself!

The built-in (aka "local") storage on computers in our classrooms and labs is erased automatically about once per week as part of routine maintenance.  We recommend the following as better alternatives:

  • Box
  • Google Drive
  • A network storage facility (i.e. file server) managed by your department or school
  • USB flash drive
  • OSU's Canvas system

If you need to work with data on the local drive, be sure to move it to one of the above, long-term storage options before you logout.
