Program Manager, Ed Ostrander

Hi, how are you? I landed at Oregon State University in 2011 by way of Electronic Media Production Undergraduate studies from Kent State University and the Art & Technology MFA program at Ohio State University. I've had the opportunity to spend most of my life working in studios, museums and classrooms doing what I love: creating, learning & collaborating on big ideas. I'm pretty fond of the impact ephemeral experiences can have on learning, awareness & memory. Curiosity, Play & Nature consistently inform my approach to understanding & applying educational technologies. It's not about the whiz-bang tech, but rather how we consciously & deliberately design experiences that engage our learners.

When I'm not on campus, you can find me backpacking the PNW, enjoying a sauna, or in search of the best pizza, diner coffee & dive bars with my partner-in-crime Rachel and our greyhound Lula. Oh, and I always carry my decision-making wooden nickel for those tough choices life throws at you. Got a question...? The nickel may be able to help!

Student Media Assistants

Our student assistants play a key role in what we do at the Faculty Media Center. Each brings a unique set of talents and expertise to help us deliver the best possible experience for our visitors.

What We Do

The Faculty Media Center (FMC) empowers faculty and staff to create media for teaching, training and outreach activities. Using a Do-It-Yourself approach, we provide faculty & staff access to flexible, dynamic space populated with user-friendly media creation technologies and on-site consultation. A simple and familiar media creation approach eliminates complex post-production, enabling you to leave with a finished media product the same day it was recorded.

There is NO COST to access the service & support at Faculty Media Center. As a member of the Academic Technologies' Media Services team, it's our mission to reduce as many barriers to the design, development, creation & sharing of quality media content. We're not here to teach you the latest high-end media technology tools or train you to become a media professional. Instead, we're interested in helping you discover the shortest path to success by focusing on foundational media-making concepts & strategies to help you get up and running with your media project.
